About The Event
Hosted by the AMTA CT Chapter this class focuses on the importance of the therapeutic relationship when working with our clients. As we work with clients and their families on a regular basis, this relationship becomes deeper and more meaningful. When a client dies, either expectedly or unexpectedly, it can have a lasting effect on the therapist, and their practice. Coping with the death of a client can bring up emotions that you may not be ready for, and they can be completely unexpected.
During this 3 hour ethics course, attendees will learn
How grief can manifest itself into physical, emotional, social, and behavioral dimensions
How to process grief within themselves in a safe and productive manner
How to be present for your clients that are friends or family of the deceased, and stay within your scope of practice
How to comfortably refer clients that need support that falls outside of the massage therapy scope during a period of grieving
